1949 indian arrow

Indian Motorcyle® has a storied history on the Flat Track. The original Indian Motorcycle® Wrecking Crew of the 1940s and '50s—Ernie Beckman, Bill Tuman and Bobby Hill—are icons of the sport. The famed rivalry between Indian and Harley-Davidson® is the stuff legends are made of.
The Arrow has all the classic looks of an American cruiser, but its attitude is totally different. The engine is powerful and smooth, and torque is on tap seemingly everywhere. You can kick back and cruise on it, but you’ll feel it urging you to go faster.
The Arrow was a fresh design for a post-WWII world, and in many ways checked all the boxes for what a modern motorcycle should have been – if anything they were ahead of their time. Penned by Indian engineer G. Briggs Weaver, the so-called Dyna-Torque engines with their close-pitch finning, angled pushrod tubes and overhanging cylinder heads were undeniably good-looking. Modular in design, there was even a prototype 880cc version with four of the cylinders all in a row.
As well as being 1949’s ‘most modern motorcycle’ this Arrow has also had some updates from us at the garage as well to bring it up to date, including:
- A new battery.
- Carburettor overhaul - Full repair kit or replacement.
- Replaced all fuel lines.
- Replaced fuel tap .
- Reestablished Front brake adjuster.
- Full motorcycle service
- Internal fuel tank treatment.
