It makes you feel invincible on track, and allows you to push harder than ever before. So what makes it so good? For a start, the chassis is simply brilliant. The Ohlins front and rear on the R combine with the traditionally superb Ducati chassis to make the bike perfectly balanced in a corner. This bike has had extremely good care been taken of it. The paint is in great condition and its rare to see a bike still looking this good even almost 20 years later. With low miles on the clock and new tyres plus a service this bike is ready to rock and roll with the new owner. This could be the centre piece to your living room or your daily commute, it is just that good.

For those focused directly on competition, the 749R is the ideal solution. It is a perfect racing machine, with a Testastretta series engine and chassis specifically developed to ensure top competitiveness on the racetrack. The considerable use of special materials, from magnesium to carbon fiber to titanium, make this motorcycle extra-light and extremely effective. This model is #111 which in itself is pretty cool. However there is not a certain number of how many Ducati made of these bikes. The first model year of 2004 there was 300 of the 749R’s made. There were rumoured to be another 200 made the following year for 2005 but there is no real answer from Ducati if that is true or not. Like Ferrari, the Italians seem to put out as many as they want but only record officially the number they like too.

The 749R is one of the trickest bikes Ducati ever produced for road use, and featured titanium engine internals, including bigger valves, lightweight magnesium components like the cam covers, and a more radically oversquare bore and stroke to increase the v-twin’s appetite for revs. Horsepower was up significantly, from 108 to 121.
